Why Do You Spend Money on What is Not Food, and Your Wages on What Does Not Satisfy? (Isa 55:2)

Don't work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal of approval on Him. (John 6:27 HCSB)

Isaiah 55:2 is an exact description of the people today! They are so busy earning a living in their jobs, careers, and businesses. There's nothing wrong with these, except that they spend their earnings on things that do not last, and don't satisfy their souls.

• Why do you spend money on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the choicest of foods. (Isa 55:2 HCSB)

• After He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He was hungry. Then the tempter approached Him and said, "If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." But He answered, "It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." (Mat 4:2-4 HCSB)

• He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then He gave you manna to eat, which you and your fathers had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. (Deu 8:3 HCSB)

• Pay attention and come to Me; listen, so that you will live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the promises assured to David. Since I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples, so you will summon a nation you do not know, and nations who do not know you will run to you. For the LORD your God, even the Holy One of Israel, has glorified you. (Isa 55:3-5 HCSB)

BUT IF YOU CHOOSE OTHERWISE, YOU WOULD BE FUEL TO THE FIRE!

• Is it not from the LORD of Hosts, that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing? (Hab 2:13 HCSB)

• This is what the LORD of Hosts says: Babylon's thick walls will be totally demolished, and her high gates consumed by fire. The peoples will have labored for nothing; the nations will exhaust themselves only to feed the fire. (Jer 51:58 HCSB)
